August News

Summer is the best season for getting out and about with your dog, lovely walks across the fields and beach trips if you are lucky enough! One problem with those lovely field walks is the danger of grass seeds which can cause all sorts of problems for you and your dog. In the last week alone we have seen 5 customers who have had to have a general anaesthetic for their dog for the removal of grass seeds once they have taken root and caused infection. This causes a lot of discomfort for your dog and considerable expense for you!

Especially in the Summer months I always include a thorough foot trim for your pet and full examination of the areas where the grass seeds can hide. In particular in between the toes, armpits and ears should all be kept nice and short so that it is easier for you to check your pet over for grass seeds when you return from your walk.

Summer Holidays!

The salon will be closed from Monday 20th August until Tuesday 29th August. During this time I won’t have the diary with me so if you email or Facebook message the salon I will get back to you on my return.

As far as the current waiting list goes there are a couple of haircut appointments available before we go on holiday but these will go very quickly! As always we can usually fit your dog in for a Starshine & Sparkle bath and de-shed within a day or two, contact us to book in.

We implemented our annual price increase in July which although only a small amount will help us to keep up with price increases which affect us as a business, if you would like to know how this affects your personally just get in touch!

As part of our continued education and striving to improve my skills all the time we are delighted to welcome International Grooming judge, trainer and all round grooming superstar Mr Colin Taylor who is coming to do a days training seminar with us on Monday 14th August. I am really looking forward to learning new skills that I can use on my doggie clients. Colin is the very best in the business and we are delighted he is coming to Hollywood Dogs!

That’s all the news for now, enjoy your summer break
